Current Site Updates

Several weeks ago we began upgrading the site and forums. Can you say can of worms?
The forums were upgraded but due to a defect in the way Theme was implemented it was very hard to post. As a result a new theme was added and is working.
next, we started working on upgrading the software that drives the site. WOW this was a headache. It broke our custom menus. We spent the last 3 days recoding the menus as a plugin.
The next thing to test is how much of the custom patched code we can drop. This won't be in the near future though. We still have a LOT of work to cleanup the old hacky menu system first.
This latest chunk of code will seriously help with the upgrade process in the future.
Keep your eyes open for more goodness in the future.

Forums Update

The forums software has been updated. This means you need to update your bookmarks. The URL of the forums have changed from
HTTP://www.tdsuo.net/forums/index.php to HTTP://www.tdsuo.net/forums/forum.php.
We have chosen a theme that keeps the general feel of the old forums. It is not a perfect match but it is the best we could find, to date. We will have to see how we like the update as we move forward.

Welcome to The Darkside: Redemption, a free Ultima Online shard dedicated to offering a realm of play above the rest. Venture through our custom world and find yourself battling monsters in distant lands and deep dungeons. Level your player to increase your ability to learn, buy stats to make you stronger, imbue yourself with a permanent elemental attack, and buy items with level points and souls you liberated in your hunts! As you fight through the hardships of our realm you will find many items in your loots ranging from magic equipment, dye tubs, tomes to increase skill, rare gems, treasure map chests, unique items, and much more.
While playing experience our enhanced features. Tame our steeds that will imbue your character with abilities while you ride them. Dig yourself into a mine and discover the gems and precious metals that will strengthen you as you go through your journey. Build yourself a house to store your loots in secured chests while customizing it with many craftable decorations. Go fishing and catch over a dozen fish that, when cooked, reveal special abilities per bite. Track players using a specialized system where your tracking and stealth skill can make you see farther and more accurately while those skills can also make you untraceable or even alert you if someone is following you!
Beware; though, the Spine! The mountainous region splitting the map vertically separates good and evil as you can use it to travel between the Darkside and Lightside. On the Lightside you play as an equal member of the human race fighting evil monsters and helping your fellow players. On the Darkside you are free to attack others and loot them of all materials! To the skilled killer this may prove to be a profitable profession. While on the Darkside you will also experience an enhanced game play of increased loots from hunting and a greater amount gained from gathering resources like fishing, mining, and lumber jacking.
We are powered by Sphere 56b and are updated with the latest software available to keep us stable and secure from downtime, hacks, and UO exploit programs. We are hosted on a server owned and maintained by our own Server-Admin Rapitharian. This professional setup allows us to provide the best experience at the lowest costs. With enhanced systems, and custom scripts you will not find anywhere else, thousands of uniques and craftables, and the most powerful set up available to us, TDSR is truly the place to play Ultima Online.
UO Veterans know that the game has been changed many times. We offer the best of all worlds though. All clients are supported (preferably 2.0.3 or a client around 6.0.0) allowing for you to choose your gaming feel. The newer monsters exist in our world all without the old clients being bugged! We do NOT use the awful AOS popup menus and other eyesores.

Website Updates

During the Past week we have updated the CMS system we use for the website and have undertaken an effort to add images to the site. Expect this effort to continue for some time as it requires a massive todo list just to get one of the categories set with all of the images it requires. We have started with the Crafting Menu and will move on from there.

Another Snow Storm.
|

Players,
We are expecting another snow storm to come in during the late night hours and blanket the area with another 8" - 24" of snow. This storm is expected to last till Saturday Eastern Time (GMT -5) in the USA (Sunday on the other side of the International Date Line). This could cause extended power outages; as the area still suffers from some downed trees on the wires, a result of the last storm. If this happens know we will be working diligently to get the server back up as soon as possible once power has been restored.

Server Outage

Last night and this morning we suffered an outage. We can Thank Mother Nature. The latest Snow storm to hit the North-East USA took out power for about 12 hours. Now that power is back on I am working to get the systems online and updated/patched. I expect this process will be complete by 12:00 ET or 5:00 GMT. That breaks the last streak of being up for 45 days. We will start again.
